Generel information
As of November 18th 2020 reservation and prepayment is required for all cars and other vehicles as well as all passengers including those arriving by foot or bike.
This information only applies to journeys made with Ærøfærgerne.
How does this affect me?
You make a reservation and receive a confirmation of this by mail.
For reservation made more than 48 hours in advance
60 hours prior to departure you will receive a reminder by mail to make payment, irrespective of whether there is an outstanding payment or not.
48 hours prior to departure any payment due must have been made, otherwise your reservation will be automatically cancelled. You will if applicable also receive confirmation of the cancellation. Consequently your reservation will not appear on the loading list that the crew use at time of departure and will not have a valid reservation
For reservations made less than 48 hours in advance
If you make your reservation less than 48 hours prior to your chosen departure time, you have 2 hours or until half an hour before that departure to make payment, whichever occurs first.
You will if applicable also receive confirmation of the cancellation. Consequently your reservation will not appear on the loading list that the crew use at time of departure and will not have a valid reservation.
Should you not be able to make it to your chosen departure, you have following options
You can cancel your reservation until 30 minutes before departure and will then automatically get your full payment refunded.
or
You can move your reservation to a later departure that same day or use the payment to travel without a reservation
Unless you choose to do one of the above you will not be able to get a refund of your payment.
Additional information
If you are unable to make payment online yourself it is possible to make payment over the phone at time of reservation or afterwards using all major credit cards.
If you use a ' top-up voucher (Værdikort) ' purchased from Ærøfærgerne when making an online reservation, a 5% discount will be applied on passengers
Credit account holders and commuters, who hold a monthly travel card will be notified seperately of how this prepayment affects them.
